1. FlatMeet are not responsible
for anything!
Pretty simple really,
but seriously, we cannot guarantee the details entered are genuine
or the type of any people searching for flatmates. As with any search
for people take care. We are only a point of contact the rest is up
to you!
However here's some advise after making
contact. (Thanks to Dom for the suggestions)
-
Always take a friend
with you to view a room (especially girls).
-
Always test the hot
water.
-
Check gas safety certificates
(especially the dodgier private landlords).
-
Always read the tenancy
agreement and agree the condition of furnishings like carpets etc.
before handing over a deposit.
-
Check you are eligible
to receive housing benefit at the address if you need to.
-
Has the accommodation
been inspected by a rent officer?
-
Is the accommodation
lawful - i.e. in the case of conversions do the planning status
and importantly, the means of escape in case of fire comply with
the law (in England and Wales)?
-
Where does the landlord
live and ensure you are provided with emergency telephone numbers
for plumbers, roofers, etc.
2. FlatMeet staff (me) are invited to
all house warming events and parties :-)
